Meg Bolton Scott, a former English professor and newspaper reporter, has raised twelve dogs of her own over the years and has also volunteered for over 300 hours with SPCA Florida in Lakeland. She currently lives in Plant City, Florida. Calamity Jane was her own remarkable little dog, rescued from a small cage, who lived a long and adventurous life and was dearly loved by her family.
