What’s inside...
This eBook, 'Heidi - Complete Illustrated Edition: Book 1&2' comes with a detailed and dynamic table of contents and has been carefully proofread. The two children's books 'Heidi's Years of Learning and Travel' and 'Heidi can use what it has learned' by Swiss author Johanna Spyri (1827-1901) from the years 1880 and 1881 are among the most famous children's books in the world. With her Heidi books, Johanna Spyri created a romantic and idealized image of Switzerland that is still widespread today. Contents: In 'Heidi's Years of Learning and Travel', we learn how the orphan girl Heidi is brought to live with her reclusive grandfather on an alp above Maienfeld (Canton Graubünden), after her mother's death, where her Aunt Dete had been supervising her. Heidi befriends Geissenpeter, a goat herder of her age, and regularly hikes the Alps where the village goats graze. In 'Heidi can use what it has learned', Heidi returns to her grandfather who, delighted, visits the village church for the first time in decades, and renovates his house in the village so Heidi can spend the winter there and go to school. Heidi convinces Geissenpeter to learn to read, and hopes that Klara will finally visit her the following year, but first only the doctor arrives to assess the situation.
