Island of the Blue Dolphins

The story revolves around a young Native American girl named Karana who gets left alone on Ghalas-at, an island off the coast of California, when her tribe abandons the island following a cataclysmic battle with Aleut hunters. Karana bravely faces the challenges of survival on the desolate island for eighteen years until she is finally rescued.
