Description

Have you ever done a storybook walk? The Storybook Walk edition of Little Jack Thomson's Magnificent Brain was created to make doing your own storybook walk as easy as possible. Illustrations have been set up so that each spread matches up perfectly in the middle and page numbers have been added for easy sorting. In addition, each spread contains activity and movement prompts, such as "Give your neighbor a high 5" or "Pretend you are a planet and spin around 5x!" All you need to do is open the book, CUT on the dotted line, LAMINATE each spread in an 11 x 17 inch pouch, and DISPLAY as wanted. An uplifting story of personal triumph... Jack Thomson, a gifted, young boy who dreams of flying rockets to Neptune and building trains between planets is unaware of how truly intelligent he is. Truth be told, he's convinced he is slow because he can't read and write like everyone else, he knows. After one awful day at school, Jack's mother comforts him by relating some inspiring stories of history's greatest minds and how they overcame learning disabilities and made a difference. As Jack listens, his spirits lift as he recognizes that someday he, too, can do something magnificent. Kelley Donner knew she wanted to be an artist as a little girl where she grew up on a farm in rural Kansas. She has written many children's stories including The Day the Lines Changed, which was featured in the Washington Post as one of the top ten children's books about the pandemic and School is More Than a Building. Kelley has a Masters Degree in Illustration and Book Arts from the Cambridge School of Art and has worked as an educator for over 20 years in the US, UK, and Germany. When Kelley is not busy drawing, you will often find her playing Lego with her three boys. On KelleyDonner.com you will also find links to the Little Jack Thomson's Magnificent Brain Coloring Book along with lesson plans and activities.
