Owen & Mzee

Owen, a young hippopotamus, was separated from his herd during the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami and was rescued by a wildlife sanctuary in Kenya. Owen was brought up by a 130-year-old tortoise named Mzee, who became his surrogate mother. The story follows their unlikely friendship and the challenges they face as they grow and learn together. The book is based on a true story and includes photographs of Owen and Mzee, as well as information about wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting the environment.
