When a stray dog turns up in Little Applewood, Sheltie the pony takes him under his hoof. Emma wants to keep the dog, but her parents think he must have an owner somewhere. Emma sets out to find the owner and, when a nasty man turns up to claim the dog, Emma and Sheltie help it to run away. Emma searches for the dog and gets trapped in a collapsed drainpipe. Only Sheltie knows where she is, but he finally manages to persuade Emma's dad to follow him and together they rescue Emma and the dog. The book, 'Sheltie and the Stray' by Peter Clover is a 91-page paperback published by Scholastic Inc. in March 2005. It is a withdrawn library copy but in perfect condition, with clean, tight pages, no writing, markings, or tears.
