Thinking Outside the Coop

Thinking Outside the Coop

Description

The chicken coop is egg-speriencing some problems. Eggs go missing, eggs are getting dirty, and eggs are being stolen. Widget and Zip, the dog and duck duo, get to work problem-solving. See how they design electronic circuits, 3D print tools, and even build their own robot to prove that there's more than one way to overcome any obstacle. Thinking Outside the Coop introduces children to a variety of technology tools in an exciting, accessible way. Students will learn about engineering and technology through real-world applications, recognizing how they can use these tools and processes to make people's (and animals!) lives better. The book includes a photo glossary describing all of the gadgets Widget and Zip use. The author also created a series of extension enrichment lessons, segmented by age group, that readers can use to explore more about the book's tech-related themes. The majority of the proceeds from book sales will go to support the Rural Technology Fund . The mission of the RTF is to help rural students recognize opportunities in technology careers, facilitate pathways to work in the computer industry, and provide equitable access to technology for students with disabilities.
