Book details
Timons Tide
Description
Daniel's elder brother was drowned 6 years ago. His body was found near the Bristol docks, bound with plastic cords. Or was it? For there is no doubt that the down and out who accosts Daniel in the street is Timon. Daniel at 16, with a complicated family life, finds things difficult enough already without the challenging presence of Timon and the guilt he feels over a death that may or may not have taken place. The story moves swiftly and terrifyingly towards a conclusion that sweeps up the whole family in it's drama. TIMON'S TIDE is a story of the super natural, but it is also an ambitious novel for young adults set in a world haunted by the homeless and the dispossesed. It is only Charles Butler's 2nd book - the 1st, THE DARKLING, was published in the summer of 1997 - but it confirms him as a powerful and original new talent.
