Book of Ember 

In 'The People of Sparks', the sequel to 'The City of Ember', the protagonist Lina Mayfleet and her friend Doon Harrow lead the citizens of Ember to the surface world. After their harrowing escape from the dying underground city, they encounter the village of Sparks, where they hope to find refuge. The people of Sparks, led by Mayor Caspar and a council, agree to help the Emberites, despite their own limited resources. As the two groups of people try to coexist, tensions rise due to cultural differences, scarcity of food, and the strain on resources. Lina becomes fascinated with the idea of a city she's seen in a book and decides to go on an exploration, while Doon becomes involved in trying to solve the growing conflicts between the Emberites and the people of Sparks. Eventually, the situation escalates into violence, but through the efforts of Lina, Doon, and other peacemakers, the two communities learn to work together. They realize that cooperation and understanding are key to their survival in this new world. The novel explores themes of conflict resolution, the importance of community, and the challenges of adapting to change.
